Celebrating the Backbone of Fedora

The Fedora Project owes its continuous growth and innovation to the dedicated individuals who work behind the scenes. From writing test cases and onboarding newcomers to producing technical documentation and coordinating community events, every effort matters. This year, as part of the Fedora Mentor Summit 2026, we are proud to announce the return of the Contributor Recognition Program, with winners to be revealed at Flock to Fedora 2026. This initiative is a heartfelt way to acknowledge the mentors and contributors who shape our community.

Why Contributor Recognition Matters

Recognition is more than a simple thank-you — it fosters a culture of appreciation, encourages continued involvement, and inspires others to step up. By highlighting the achievements of veteran mentors who have guided newcomers, and contributors whose work has transformed the Fedora landscape, we reinforce the values of collaboration and open source spirit. The 2026 program aims to spotlight those who consistently go above and beyond.

Nomination Process and Guidelines

Everyone in the Fedora community is invited to submit nominations. Whether you are a long-time contributor or a recent joiner, your voice matters. To nominate your Fedora hero, please review the following guidelines:

  • Categories: Two main award tracks — Mentor Excellence and Outstanding Contributor. Self-nominations are not accepted.
  • Supporting information: Provide specific examples of the nominee’s contributions, such as leading workshops, improving documentation, or organizing events.
  • Deadline: All nominations must be submitted by 15th May 2026.
